at our school there are normal fundraisers like cookie dough, choclate bars, and other things. but, we also get things off the internet that are fairly cheap. We have got personolized dog tags with the schools name and mascot on it. we also got pins that say what group you are in like student council, cheerleading, dance team, and more. they were a big hit and we made tons of money!

Well the chocolate bar sales thing is rather time consuming, and most of the profit goes to the candy co.
Depending on the laws in your area, you might approach town/city council and see if they would sponsor you to hold a lottery. If you go for a pre-set licence", which means that you specify in advance exactly what the prizes will be, and how many tickets will be sold, and at what price, you may have an easier time of it.
Example:
Over the following year, from March 01/08, to March 01/09, we propose to sell 10,000 tickets at $10 each.
This will raise a total of: $100,000.
Our advertizing budget is $10,000, and our printing and other costs are $5,000.
This leaves $85,000 net.
This money will be split 50:50 as follows:=
$42,500 to the school for the purpose of….
(ie: New Library Books- $15K, Repairing the Gym-$20K, Other etc.-$7500 ..)
$42,500 in prize money as follows:=
$20,000 One 1st prize
$10,000 One 2nd prize
$ 5,000 One 3rd prize
$ 2,500 One 4th prize
$ 1,250 One 5th prize
$ 650 One 6th prize
$ 200 Ten 7th prizes (Ttl: $2,000)
$ 100 Ten 8th prizes (Ttl: $1,000)
$ 50 Two 9th prizes (Ttl: $100)
————
Total of 28 main cash prizes.
Sales persons will be donating their time.
We will also try to get local merchants to donate small "Early Bird" prizes (Books, Flowers, etc.) and discount coupons to be raffled off during the term of the draw.
This kind of a proposal, well written out, would be sure to get attention — and sponsors. Merchants will be interested for the almost free PR, and a Community Service Appreciation Certificate they would be given.
Then too, there are things like holding a car wash, or bake sale, or rummage/garage sale, that can raise money.
You could also have "Rent a Student Days", where local people coould rent a student for various chores, with the understanding that the money goes to the school. You could also have "Rent a Teacher Days", which would be held in conjunction with the Rent a Student Days…

At the Hawaiian Market, there are loose kukui nuts with predrilled holes that a school can purchase and make their own leis for sporting events or pep rallys. You can buy your school colors and make leis, bracelets, key chaings, anything. This is a unique school fundraiser that will be personalized with the school colors and something that the students and teachers can keep forever.
