Start a blog about your trip, and see if you can convince some local businesses to sponsor your trip and in return you will provide them with free advertising on your webspace. You may have to agree to some volunteer work too. But for the big bucks you need it will be well worth it. You might want to have a few car washes and sell some candy, sodas, or chips at some local events with permission, of course.
