School Fundraising Ideas

Helping you raise money to support your teachers and kids

Hi, I’m planning on making shrinky dinks for a fundraiser and I had some questions.

Is it very pricey to make them on a somewhat large scale? Where can I buy #6 clear plastic? I’m wondering if they sold it in Smart and Final, could any one verify that? If anyone knows any other stores, that’d be great too!

Also, is it safe for the oven to heat plastic up? Would there be any risks or dangerous fumes from the plastic?

Finally, do you guys think it would be a good project for elementary school kids?

Thanks for everyone’s help!
Well, my Key Club is fundraising money to lower the costs of our convention, so I thought that this would be a cool way xD

Check out this answer I just wrote yesterday about "Shrinky Dinks" and other shrink plastics:

If that link doesn’t work, just copy and paste these exact words:
Where can I find printable shrinky dink type paper?
into the "Search for Questions" search box which is at the top of most pages here.

That answer of mine also has info about the page at my website where you can find out more about other plastics which will shrink (e.g. at Smart & Final), lessons for shrinking, other ideas, etc.

HTH,

Diane B.

you can see if walmart or your local craft shop has one.

  2. Voice of reason Said,

    Elementary school kids love them.
    Especially the magnet ones.
Or the pin ones if perfectly timed.
I don’t know how to get them in the bulk. But really no need as they are done on an individual basis, so just get each kid selling their own personalized kit that they buy beforehand and sell for profit.
