Vistas Big Give took place February 9-13, 2009. Vista Unified School District, City of Vista, local businesses and residents all rallied behind one cause: to make wishes come true for children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions. During the one-week fundraiser, approximately 28 elementary, middle and high schools each conducted a unique fundraiser. City of Vista employees, the Vista Fire Department Association, numerous local businesses, and hundreds of Vista residents also participated by making contributions and hosting fundraisers.
The Big Reveal took place on February 26th. During this special night the community celebrated the success of Vistas Big Give and presented Make-A-Wish with a check for $41,000! Students, teachers, administrators, community members and Vista Mayor Morris Vance were all in attendance at Rancho Buena Vista High to celebrate the power of giving. Wish kids Ashley and Curt served as our ambassadors, and they were invited to be VIP guests at the event, along with wish kid Austin, who played the national anthem on his saxophone. Many thanks to everyone who participated in this phenomenal fundraiser, especially event organizer Beth Duncan. Visit www.VistasBigGive.com to see photos and learn more about it.
