Get the students to put on a play or concert to raise money.
At a primary school I worked at they had a paper recycling drive. Parents and friends would bring in their newspapers to the school and the school would get $50 for every 12 recycle bins they filled. It may take a while to raise money but with minimal work from students the money can pour in.
High schools are slightly harder for fundraising schemes. Primary schools are much easier to fundraise for - walkathons, spellathons, trading tables, raffles etc.
Good luck in whatever event you choose.
References :
You could do: Bake sales, a dance, collecting bottles, or make a quilt out of donated t-shirts or something and then sell them, a basketball game type thing (everyone who participates brings $3-5). Make sure you do something that will interest everyone. Don't just stick to one group. You could even have parents and the children involved.
References :
I'm in highschool so I know some things that will be interesting.

Feasibility is what its all about. As a DECA advisor, I did many fundraisers all year long to be able to pay for my students' competition. Some fundraisers worked well and others worked better than others. I now own a company that provides educational services to marketing and business programs and we also have a fundraising division. Our director of sales has a great deal of experience in fundraising as a student, a parent, and now as a consultant to high school groups nationwide. She's been helping all types of high school groups with a variety of programs. If you want to check out our programs, you'll see all that we offer at www.customresourcesfundraising.com or you can call our office direct and ask for Heather. She can talk with you about how many sellers you have, when your senior class council needs the money, how much you need, and more. She can be reached at 660-885-5635. We are in the central time zone and our office is available from 8-5 pm. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do!
References :
www.customresourcesfundraising.com

I just listed a bunch for another message.
Bake sale
car wash
5k - people can pay to participate, or they can sponsor the kids in the science club.
Get donations from parents and have a silent auction (people write down their bids). I know one school that has parents put together baskets with a theme- family movie night, for example, with DVDs, popcorn, etc. They raise a good bit of money with that.
There are companies that provide products for fund-raising events- candy bars and things the members can sell.
References :
Do a run we did a run that was the equivalent from rawdon to London. Or u could do a bun sale or make cards and sell them.Do a cycling race or do swimming races and charge a couple of £s to enter. Or more depending on how much u want to raise.

Hope this helps and hope u raise lots of money.
References :
Here's an interesting site to look at. www.greenerific.com

They offer over 10,000 eco-friendly & organic products. Signing up your school or school program takes about 1 minute. You can both get donations to the school as well as track student referrals.

The program has no costs to the school at any time.

When you enroll, you get a complete information kit and all the material you need to start including a product list and donation values for each product.
