A golf ball directly before the hole

By Melissa Peterman

Just about every school out there, whether elementary, junior high and even colleges need fundraisers for sports teams, field trips and even special events like Prom. In order to send your school’s track team to China or the jazz ensemble to New Orleans, make your school fundraiser a success. With so many choices out there to bring in money- the secret ingredients to a great fundraiser starts with a good base and a little creativity.

Some Great Ideas to Make a Successful School Fundraising Event

Sports

Everyone loves a little friendly competition! When it comes to bringing out people’s competitive giving nature- nothing like a good competitive sport to bring out the Benjamin’s. Here are a couple great school fundraising ideas involving sports.

1. Charity Golf Tournament – Easier than it sounds! With several professional golf fundraising organizations, the work is almost done for you!

2. Golf Raffle – Ask friends and family to help you out by selling raffle tickets to a golf event. Have a local business advertise for $100 a hole.

3. Charity Ski, Basketball, Baseball Or Kickball Event – Ask friends and family to donate $1 for every goal scored, every strike out, basket made or slopes conquered on the mountain.

Edible

Hard not to resist Girl Scout Cookies? Bake sales, spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts are all great ways to bring in some money without a lot of pressure. People will spend money since it’s a win win situation. Instant gratification almost always out sells any other fundraising ploy.

1. Bake Sale – Ask every student to sign up for a day to bake cookies, cakes or muffins to sell for .50 a piece. It’s amazing how it adds up fast.

2. Spaghetti Dinner – Spaghetti is cheap! Charge everyone $5 for spaghetti and you have raised a substantial amount of money after just 10 people!

3. Pancake Breakfast – Same game. Pancakes are cheap! You could offer all you can eat cakes for only $5 and watch the money roll in.

Classic

Garage Sale – Ask friends and family to donate used items to your garage sale. All the money from the sale of the items can go to the cause!

Magazine Sales – Selling magazines through your school has always been a great way to bring in a lot of money. Again, another instant gratification present for the buyer.

Whether you decide to go sporty, classic or the delicious route, any of these fundraising tips will be sure to bring in the cash to benefit any of your school’s needs. With a few volunteers, some competitive spirits and some willing donors, it may be just as much fun as rewarding.

Donkey Basketball

Posted by admin under school fundraisers

Disrespect at its best in a place of education no less. This is an educational picture video showing photos of donkeys used for a fundraising project at a Michigan high school. It may be fun and games for those who want the money and choose to participate in the “game”. But does it appear this is really fun for the donkeys?
Quote from a high school student: “It is stupid, anyone with a brain can tell they (donkeys) do not want to be doing this.”
