School Fundraising Ideas

Helping you raise money to support your teachers and kids

Hello Supporter of the Ballou Library Media Center,

I am writing to request your support for an upcoming fundraising event. On January 29, 2011, Ballou Senior High School and the Friends of Ballou will host a Bowl-A-Thon at Lucky Strike in Washington, DC.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds and friends that will help our school Strike Out the Barriers to High School Success that our students regularly experience. The event will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, I am currently looking for individual donors and/or team sponsors for the library team.

Currently, the school has a total of 1,150 books, which is approximately one book per student. The national recommended book to student ratio is 11:1 for high schools. With far less than what is recommended, we are in great need of assistance to help build our collection.

Sponsorship levels are specified on the attachment. Sponsors and donors will be recognized via television, radio and printed media outreach throughout the months of January and February 2011. Additionally, sponsors and patrons will be listed on the new Ballou Senior High School website beginning in February 2011.

My fundraising goal is to raise $10,000. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, I need you as a sponsor to contribute toward the cause of striking out the barriers to high school success for the students with whom I come in contact each day.

Keep in mind, the donations of this event can directly benefit the library and provide high-quality books and technology resources for our students. All donations are tax-deductible under the law.

I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you more about the Bowl-A-Thon. Feel free to contact me via email or telephone at Melissa.Jackson@dc.gov or (202) 250-0397.

Thank you for your interest in supporting the school in our efforts to provide high-quality academic resources for students. Our goal is to develop nationally competitive students with these resources. With the gift of your assistance, we will achieve the goal at the New Ballou!

Best,
Melissa Jackson
